Book
explores impact of today’s
Texas leaving the United States
Debbie Bradley
Times Reporter
There are few states more independent
than Texas. Three times in its history
it has seceded from three different
countries, including a temporary secession
from the United States.
Now only taken as a joke amongst its
citizens, Daniel Jason, a Houstonian,
has taken the speculation one step further
in his new book “Texas Secedes”.
The book follows the story of Matthew
Wolverine and his family and their journey
towards secession.
“The Wolverine family sees the
federal government is not defending
the Texas border and that in ten years
Texas will be a de facto part of Mexico,”
Jason said. “The Wolverines pray
to seek guidance from above and are
led to urge Texas to take the drastic
step of voting on secession if the federal
government will not defend the Texas
border.
Jason worked on the book two years,
eventually publishing it through his
company, 5 Star Stories Inc. and is
working on the next book in what will
be a six book series, called “Texas
Freedom.”

While
writing his book, Jason looked back on past
Texas history as well as other instances in
history, including the original American colonies
and the revolution against Great Britain and
the instances that Texas seceded from Spain,
Mexico and the United States.
Using this research as well as current events,
he formed the backbone of his story.
“For years Congress and the President
have left our southern border unprotected,”
Jason said. “They vote for a fence,
then vote against funding the fence. They
are not listening to the citizens. Great Britain
stopped listening to the colonials and the
colonies rebelled. Mexico stopped listening
to Texas and Texas rebelled. The federal government
is not fixing social security, goes deeper
and deeper into debt each year, and is not
protecting the southern border. This is history
repeating itself.”

“The
goal of ‘Texas Secedes’ is after
reading, you call your Congressman and Senators
to keep Texas free!!!
